Professional Business Services is a priority sector for Tees Valley and, as such, there has been significant investment and focus in ensuring the area is equipped to attract big businesses. Major companies located here include EE, Santander, Virgin Media, Barclaycard, AXA and Capita.
The region will also be home to the new Treasury North campus. Announced in March 2021, the Treasury will be moving 750 jobs to Darlington, with connectivity, skilled workforce and lifestyle being some of the key factors behind the move.
In addition the area is home to a number of specialist service providers, such as Cubic Transportation Systems – whose services include global smart ticketing – and RPMI, a world-leading pensions administration and investment organisation.
Tees Valley’s excellent transport links and digital connectivity are a key asset as we have some of the least congested roads in the UK and, with nearly 99% superfast broadband, we have some of the best connectivity in the UK. We are also committed to bringing Gigabit and 5G coverage to all town centres across the region by 2021. Tees Valley’s central location means we are perfectly placed for investment. Situated on the coast between London and Edinburgh there is easy access to the whole of the UK via the strategic road and rail network.
Outsourcing services provides businesses with opportunities to save money through economies of scale and the right location is fundamental to the success of a business service centre. UK-based offices are now a key marketing requirement. Businesses need somewhere that can offer low-cost, high-quality premises and a low-cost, highly skilled workforce in order to boost their return on investment.
Quality sites at a fraction of the cost
We have a number of easily accessible high-quality Grade-A offices with superfast broadband at a fraction of the cost of most UK cities. According to BNP Paribas Real Estate latest results, the £12 per m2 average Grade-A office rental in Middlesbrough is the lowest in the whole of the UK, nearly a third the cost of Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham and a sixth of the cost of central London.
In March 2021, it was announced that the Treasury will be moving to the Tees Valley.
The new Treasury North campus will be located in Darlington, chosen for its excellent connectivity, access to a highly skilled workforce, quality, grade A accommodation and excellent digital connectivity.
Darlington offers unrivalled transport connections, being located within a five-minute walk of its East Coast Main Line Station with regular local services and to key economic hubs in London, Scotland and the North.
The major road network’s A1(M) and A66 are within 10 minutes’ drivetime, and Teesside International Airport is a 12-minute drive away.
The lifestyle on offer in the region was also a key factor in the move, with places like the wider Tees Valley, Durham, York, Leeds and Newcastle, North Yorkshire Moors and the Lake District on Darlington’s doorstep.
Our offices do not compromise on quality. With Grade-A office space available across all five of our boroughs, investors can be confident that they’re getting fully equipped and professional facilities in prime, easy-to-reach locations.
